Fulcrum Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Fulcrum) is recruiting for the position of Environmental Scientist working in the field of NEPA compliance. Position is in our Yakima, Washington office with work completed in support of projects throughout Central and Eastern Washington. Successful candidate should have strong professional presence, exceptional research and report writing skills, and experience in environmental planning, related to the preparation of SEPA/NEPA process. Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in biology, geology, environmental science, environmental planning, or similar required. Experience with ArcView, ArcGIS, and other mapping resources is also beneficial.

environmental technician

Fulcrum Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Fulcrum) is recruiting for the position of Environmental Technician in our Yakima, Washington office. Typical responsibilities include performing asbestos and lead based paint surveys; asbestos abatement oversight and air sampling; and indoor air quality and industrial hygiene sampling. Other assignments may include environmental soil sampling, groundwater sampling, Phase I ESA preparation, and other general environmental staff services as applicable and based on experience.

Employment as an environmental technician is an entry level position. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. Successful candidate should have knowledge of or in experience in environmental sampling, scientific method, laboratory analysis, statistical analysis, a professional presence, and exceptional report writing skills. Bachelor of Science in biology, geology, chemistry, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, engineering, or similar required.

laboratory microbiologist

Fulcrum Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Fulcrum) is recruiting for the position of a laboratory analyst for microbiological samples (fungal), particulate (everything), and asbestos fiber, with potential for position growth as a Field Technician (investigation, sampling, contractor oversight, etc.).

Why advertise for a microbiologist? Because microbiological genus/species type identification and your familiarity with a microscopes through collegiate coursework will enable you to progress from your knowledge into our need.

Your responsibilities will include management of our Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Testing (IHPAT) Program for asbestos analysis including in-house management of round-robins and blind recounts, sample statistical analysis, and program oversight and development and management of sample analysis database.

Fulcrum will provide on-the-job (OTJ) training for fiber/asbestos analysis (NIOSH 582, 7400 Method), offsite training for identification of particulate from other microscopists, and OTJ in contractor oversight of asbestos abatement projects.

environmental geologist or environmental engineer

Fulcrum Environmental Consulting, Inc., efulcrum.net, is recruiting for a Washington State Registered Geologist or Hydrogeologist or Professional Engineer (civil or environmental) to join our Spokane, Washington office. We are a regional provider of environmental and safety consulting services in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.   

Working under the direction of our Principal Geologist/Hydrogeologist, typical tasks will include Phase 1, 2, 3 Environmental Site Assessments, oversight of soil and groundwater remediation, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, support of wetland identification and delineation projects, mining reclamation, management or co-management of soil remediation and investigation projects, etc.

Successful candidate shall have demonstrated:

  • Active involvement in the successful preparation of proposals, Statements of Qualifications, for existing and new clients, including private, public, and governmental parties.
  • Development of clients and service to existing clients through professional relationships, effective project management, and personal investment in project outcomes.
  • Superior technical field craft, including planning, execution, and recordkeeping during completion of environmental investigations and monitoring.
  • Accurate preparation and administration of sampling analysis plans, remedial investigations, and contract specifications.
  • Clarity in written product, strong oral communications, and professional dress and presence.
  • Experience with groundwater, surface water, sediment, and soil sampling per Washington State Department of Ecology, Idaho DEQ, and/or USEPA SOPs. 
  • Prepared to serve as a mentor to junior staff members
  • Able to provide professional goals, personal aims, and your plan to achieve both

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, etc.
  • 5+ years in environmental/geology field
  • Registered Geologist license in current state(s) of practice or Professional Engineer (environmental or civil specialization)
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • CPR and First Aid training
