Terrestrial Ecological Evaluation (TEE)

As a portion of site remedial alternatives evaluation, Fulcrum completed a Terrestrial Ecological Evaluation (TEE) as required under Washington State’s Model Toxic Control Act (MTCA). When a owner desires to manage contaminated soils in-place, rather than excavation and disposal offsite, evaluation of the potential for contaminant exposure to human and ecological receptors, including burrowing animals, birds, plant life, etc. is required. Fulcrum’s TEE process incorporated known concentrations of contaminants present, including petroleum hydrocarbons, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), lead, arsenic, identified human and ecological receptors, and site conditions to determine that the long-term management of the site through development would not result in an exposure from site contaminants to our human population or the environment.
